Riser Recliner User Guide

How to position, operate and look after your chair — the full guide, as web pages.

Using Your Recliner

A few minutes spent on positioning and handset practice will make your riser recliner safer and more comfortable every day.

Positioning Your Recliner

Always leave a minimum clearance of 50 cm between the back of the chair and a wall or any other obstruction. This allows the backrest and footrest to recline fully without restriction. Failure to do so may damage the frame, mechanism or motor and will invalidate the guarantee.
  • Place the chair on a flat, level floor, free of bumps and uneven surfaces. This prevents imbalance and keeps the lifting function safe to operate.
  • Sit fully in the chair before operating the handset. Do not operate the chair while half-standing or in an unstable position.

Handset Instructions

When the chair is not in use, keep the handset in the side pocket. Do not leave it on the floor or wedged between cushions, where it can be damaged or become a trip hazard.

Your riser recliner is operated from a wired handset. The buttons depend on the model you have, so check the handset before you start.

  • Riser — raises the chair to help you stand up.
  • Backrest Recline — reclines the backrest.
  • Back Down & Footrest — lowers the chair and raises the footrest, tilting the chair into a reclined position.
  • Backrest Return — returns the backrest to its upright position.
  • Headrest on/off — four-motor models only: adjusts the headrest.
  • Lumbar support on/off — four-motor models only: adjusts lumbar support.
  • Heating on/off — Generation 2 all-in-one handset only: switches the seat heating on or off.
  • Home button — Generation 2 all-in-one handset only: long-press to return the chair to its original position and switch off heating, lumbar support and the headrest.

Heating Function

The heating function gently warms the seat pad for extra comfort. Depending on the generation, the heating control is either a button on the right-hand side of the chair or a button on the handset.

  • Generation 1 — the heating button is on the right-hand side of the chair, within easy reach of your right hand. With the chair powered on, press the button and a red light indicates that the heating pad is active.
  • Generation 2 — heating is operated from the all-in-one handset. Press once to switch heating on and again to switch it off.
  • It takes approximately 15 minutes for the seat pad to reach its maximum warmth. Ambient temperature affects both heating speed and perceived warmth.
  • The heating function switches off automatically after a maximum of 1 hour of continuous use, for safety. You can also switch it off manually at any time.

Care & Maintenance

Regular, gentle care keeps your chair working quietly and looking its best for far longer.

Metal Frame Care

  • The internal metal frame is the structural core of the chair. Keeping the floor area around and under the chair clean and dry helps extend the product’s life and reduces noise and motor strain.
  • This is a non-waterproof product. Do not place or use it in damp environments, and keep the floor area clean and dry at all times.
  • Do not wash the chair with water. Wipe only with a cloth lightly dampened with alcohol, at room temperature.
  • Use the chair under normal room temperature, with relative humidity not greater than 80%.
  • Follow the safety operating procedures, do not overload the product, and deal with any unsafe conditions promptly.

Fabric Care

  • Remove dust regularly using a soft brush, or a vacuum cleaner fitted with a soft brush attachment.
  • Do not use stiff brushes, bleach or harsh cleaning agents.
  • Avoid contact with sharp objects and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to maintain the fabric’s appearance and durability.
  • For stains, we recommend a professional upholstery cleaning service.
  • Please note we cannot accept responsibility for any wear, damage, discolouration or deterioration resulting from cleaning, stain removal, or the use of cleaning products on the fabric.

Chenille Fabric Care

  • Chenille has a longer pile, so the fibres may flatten with use and this can cause slight variations in colour or sheen. This is a normal characteristic of the material, not a fault.
  • Remove dust regularly using a soft brush, or a vacuum cleaner fitted with a soft brush attachment.
  • Avoid stiff brushes, harsh cleaning agents and sharp objects to maintain the fabric’s appearance and longevity.
  • For stains, we recommend a professional upholstery cleaning service.

Upholstery & Cushion Care

  • All seat and back cushions are securely fixed in place so they cannot become trapped in the reclining mechanism. This also helps provide the intended support and comfort.
  • Dress and smooth the cushions regularly to help the chair keep its original shape and appearance. Some slight movement of the seat cushion with regular use is perfectly normal and can usually be corrected by gently pushing it back into position.
  • Regularly adjusting and smoothing the seat cushion helps prevent excess fabric developing an overhang over time.
  • Avoid contact with sharp objects such as belt buckles, keys and pet claws, as these may snag the fabric. If a thread snags, carefully trim any loose threads with scissors — do not pull them.
  • Do not sit on the armrests or on the edge of the seat cushion, as this may cause structural damage or move the internal fillings.
  • After use, gently plump and smooth the back cushion to redistribute the fillings and maintain the chair’s comfort and shape.
  • Keep the chair out of prolonged direct sunlight, as this may cause the fabric to fade over time.

Safety Instructions

Please read these before first use and keep them to hand. They apply to every riser recliner in the range.

Electrical safety

  • This is an electrically powered product. Do not use the chair if the power cord, plug, transformer or handset is damaged.
  • Disconnect from the mains supply before carrying out any maintenance or cleaning.
  • Only use the original power supply, transformer and accessories provided with the chair. Non-approved electrical components may cause malfunction, damage or injury.
  • Do not operate the chair in damp, wet or outdoor environments. The product is not waterproof and is for indoor use only.

Safe use

  • Ensure sufficient clearance around the chair before operation, keeping it at a safe distance from walls, furniture and other objects so the backrest, footrest and lift mechanism can move freely.
  • Before adjusting the chair, make sure no people, pets or objects are underneath, behind or around it. Operate slowly and with care.
  • Do not sit, stand or place excessive weight on the footrest. The footrest is designed to support your legs and feet only.
  • Do not sit on, lean heavily against or stand on the armrests, as this may damage the chair and increase the risk of injury.
  • Do not stand on the chair, jump onto it or drop heavily into the seat. Excessive impact may damage the frame and the moving components.
  • Children and pets must be supervised at all times when the chair is in use. Keep hands, feet, toys and other objects away from moving parts and pinch points.
  • When not in use, store the handset in the designated side pocket. Do not leave it on the floor or between cushions, where it may become damaged or create a trip hazard.

Troubleshooting

If your riser recliner fails to operate, please check the following before requesting service.

Checks to work through

If the fault continues after these checks, please contact us with your order details, a description of the fault and any photos or videos you can take of the chair and its power connections.
  • Ensure that the power supply has not been interrupted.
  • Check that the wall socket is switched on and supplying power correctly.
  • Ensure that all connections to the transformer are fully inserted and secure. Under normal operating conditions, the indicator light on the transformer should be illuminated green when connected to the mains power supply.
  • Check that all power cables and connections are properly connected and have not become loose.
  • Inspect the power cable, transformer and handset cable for any signs of damage, crushing, cutting, wear or entrapment.
